Our Class Story

Hello,
This week we have had our reception children join us in the morning. Next week we look forward to welcoming them to stay for lunch.
In Maths we have been exploring place value and working on our reasoning skills.
In English we have been exploring the use of speech bubbles while looking at the Harry and his Dinosaurs collection of books. We will continue to explore this series of books over the next few weeks.
In Year One Phonics we have been recapping the sounds 'igh', 'air', 'ear', 'ure', 'or' and 'ur'. The Year Two's have been looking at 'aw' and 'ew' this week and we have began thinking about homophones. The Reception children have been working on rhyming words and listening carefully to different sounds and thinking which animal it is or what could make that noise.
Have a wonderful weekend.
This afternoon we made collages for harvest.

Hello!
We have completed our first full week of schooling with the 'new normal' safety measures in place and the children have been brilliant. They are getting to grips with remembering the key times at which they must wash their hands and we have all learnt the correct way to wash your hands to ensure that they're properly clean.
They have also become familiar which zone they are to play in at break and lunch times. We have enjoyed assemblies in the marquee and we have had several opportunities for outdoor learning throughout the week.

A quick reminder that PE and Forest school are on Tuesdays AND Thursday this year so please ensure that suitable clothing and footwear are in school.

In Maths this week we have looked at place value and truly getting to grips about number and place value. It is essential that the children completely understand this before they progress in Mathematics.

Over the next few weeks we are going to be looking at the 'Harry and his bucketful of dinosaurs' collection as part of our English learning.

We had a great time getting to know the new Reception children during the afternoons this week. We welcome them for part of the mornings next week.
Welcome to our new reception children today! Everyone ‘slid’ into school into their ‘bubbles’ with smiles on their faces. We all had a wonderful day. We can’t wait for tomorrow afternoon when we meet again :)
Hello and welcome back to school :)
This term we are going to be learning about dinosaurs.
We’ve had a lovely two days at school learning the new routines and settling back in and we can’t wait for the rest of our class to join us next week. We have welcomed a couple of new friends in year one and two which is lovely :)
We have also welcomed Mrs Tolhurst to join St. Julian’s this year with myself, Mrs Laguna and Mrs Patel.
Please feel free to send me a message if you want to get in touch and I will respond ASAP.
Thanks
Mrs Spink
