Summer 2024

 

Our journey.

 

In Summer Term the Reception children will be focusing on the different modes of transport and their first book will be 'The man on the moon.'

 

In Year 1/2 the children will be looking at the history of transport alongside using transport themed books to inspire their story writing. 

 

Science is going to be very exciting learning about lots of different life cycles and the habitats of different animals.

In PE we will be getting ready for Sports Day and gaining water confidence in our swimming lessons.  There are also lots of other exciting things to learn in all the other subjects, which you can find out more information on in the termly overview. 

 

We are looking forward (hopefully) to the beautiful Summer weather to allow our learning to happen in all areas of our school grounds.

Spring 2024 

Fire, fire (1/2), People who help us (EY)

 

We are very excited about the upcoming term! In Y1/2 we will be learning about the Great Fire of London and donning our historical hats! Reception children will also learn a little about the GFOL as we look at firefighters and other jobs!

In Science we will all be learning about weather and how it affects us.  In PE we will be learning to move our bodies in time to music as we explore dance.

We are so eager to explore all of the foundation subjects.

Spring 2023.

Year 1/2

A new year with an exciting Spring Term which is called Medieval Magic.

 

In History we will be looking at the monarchy and castles.

 

In Geography we will be at the worlds oceans and around our school.

 

In Art our focus will be on printing and different techniques of drawing.

 

In Science we will be looking at food chains and observing changes in plants.

Year 1/2

 

Welcome back to the start of a new term with lots of exciting things lying ahead.

 

This term in St Julian's 1/2 our topic is dinosaurs.

 

In our history lessons we will be looking at Mary Anning and why she was a significant person.

 

In Geography we will be identifying daily and seasonal weather patterns whilst using aerial photography to recognise landmarks and to look at human and physical features.

 

In DT and art we will be looking at sculptures of dinosaurs. We will also be using stop motion and moving pop up within our dinosaur theme.

 

In Science we will be looking at changing materials and identifying animals based on their structure and group.

 

I cannot wait to explore this topic with you.

Reception

 

Welcome to Dry Drayton Primary School.

 

This term in St Reception our topic is dinosaurs.

 

In understanding the world, we will be learning who Mary Anning is and what she has done in history. We will be looking at Seasonal change, which includes naming the seasons and observing the seasons and we will be looking at different weather and how they make us feel. We will also look at different materials and what objects are made from.

 

In expressive arts and design will be looking at sculptures of dinosaurs. We will also be using stop motion and moving pop up within our dinosaur theme.

Welcome to St Julian's class page.  

St Julian's is made up of Reception, Year One and Year Two.

 

This term our topic is 'Our Journey' where we will be looking at different modes of transport. 

In History we will  be looking at the History of Transport using these key questions:

 What are the different modes of transport & can we place them on a timeline? 

Have we always had cars?  

 What is the history of flight?  

Who were Amelia Earhart and Bessie Coleman? 

What links does Cambridgeshire have with flight? 

 

In Geography we will be covering Locational knowledge where we will name & locate the world’s seven continents and Geographical Skills & fieldwork where we will use simple compass directions, locational and directional language.

 

In DT we will create our own moving vehicle and in Art we will be looking at sculpture and collage. 

 

In Science we are looking at  animals and humans with the focus of babies and Habitats focusing on survival.

Welcome to the 2021-22 school year

 

Here in St Julian's class our topic this term is 'Let's Play'.  We will be learning all about the history of toys and comparing modern and toys from the past.  In Geography we will be identifying the location of hot & cold areas in the world in relation to the Equator, North and South Pole.  In Science we will be looking at our Materials topic looking at the suitability of different materials.  In art we will be exploring the famous works of Pablo Picasso and in DT we will be making our very own toy puppets.

 

We welcome in our new reception children and we hope they settle in soon and join in with the St Julian's class fun!

Welcome to St Julian's Class Page.

 

This term our Topic is New Life.  We will be learning about life cycles and baby animals.  We will be looking at how plants grow in Science and planting our own seeds and watching them grow.  In Geography we will be looking at Africa and exploring their culture.  In History we will be looking at the historical farm equipment.

This term we are learning about Knights and Castles.  We will begin by exploring the familiar text Zog and writing our very own stories.  In Topic lessons we will learn about the history of castles and all their key features.  In Science we will be exploring materials and learning what are the best materials for a strong castle.  In DT we will be making our very own castles complete with moving drawbridge!  In Art we will explore printing and sewing and we will create our very own knight costumes.

 

So many exciting things ahead.

Welcome to St Julian's class page

 

This term we will be raaaa-ing mad about Dinosaurs!  We will learn all about volcanoes, fossils and dinosaurs.  

In Science we will learn about our body parts, identifying common animals and their habitats.  

In Art we will look at the famous illustrator Axel Scheffler and use his techniques to draw dinosaurs and we will make volcano sculptures.

Maths begins with place value then moves on to addition and subtraction.

Welcome to St. Julian's class page.

 

This term our topic is Up in the air.  We will be looking at lots of different things that involve things up in the air!  We will begin our topic by looking at a non-fiction book about birds and we will be writing a fact book on this.  As we progress through the term we will look at space and methods of flight transportation and we will be finding out about Neil Armstrong.
